A collaboration with Wrights Food emporium

I have some limited dates available in partnership with Wrights food Emporium in Llanarthne.


The dates are all Monday and are as follows -


June 10th 2019 (8 Places left) - June 24th 2019 (Sold out) - July 29th 2019 (6 places left)


What to expect on the day out.


June and July are wonderful times to forage its really the start of the good times as far as wild edibles are concerned.


In the fields and hedgerows we can expect lots of wonderful things and you can expect wonderful dishes like the simple but yet very tasty dish (below) that I prepared with Simon on the Secret life of Welsh food.


I recorded this with Simon and BBC Radio Wales back at the end of March and and it went out on Thursday the 11th of April, please do have a listen.

Goats cheese mousse and Hedgerow edibles - A dish set to appear on on of the foraging and food days at Wrights food emporium.

In the woodlands Chanterelles and hedgehog fungi could and should start to appear and these are exciting times indeed.


Egg in the woodland - This dish could appear on the foraging dinner at Wrights food emporium on the June and July dates we have set.

On the shoreline we can expect many wonderful things from samphire and wild fennel and wonderful sea radish and much more.


Maybe Lobster and the shoreline may make an appearance on one of the days out...?

Lobster and the shoreline, one of my many signature dishes could very well make an appearance too.

Stack rocks - Gorse flower cusatard with ash and birch meringue.

Wild eating with Matt Powell £150 per person


A day foraging in the Towy valley in the fields, hedgerows, woodland and on the shoreline.


Cooking and eating dinner with Matt Powell in the evening.


All sessions are 10am until 10pm and a maximum of 8 places are available on each day.


All food is included in the price.

Itinerary


Begin with coffee and cakes with Matt at Wright’s.


Collect picnic lunch provided by Wright’s (or return to Wright’s for lunch depending on the weather).


Tutored foraging in the woods, hedgerows and shoreline with Matt.


In the evening cook up a wild feast with Matt at Wright’s and join Matt Powell and Simon Wright for dinner.


8 people maximum on each date.


Matt Powell’s love and understanding of nature has been an inspiration to us at Wright’s in the last couple of years. Matt’s journey started out as a familiar tale for a talented chef graduating from catering school in Bridgend on a trajectory through top UK kitchens and eventually his own restaurant which is where I chanced on him well over a decade ago.


When I ran into him again a couple of years ago his wild side had taken hold and his relationship with the countryside had deepened - he was now making a living out of his foraging and fishing expeditions and his inspired cooking - all done in the awning of a caravan.


We’ve teamed up to offer a series of special days out foraging with Matt followed by a session cooking with Matt in the Wright’s kitchen and then dinner with Matt and myself.
